Message from the President
It gave me great pleasure to attend the Industry’s National Conference in Darwin.
The theme of the Conference was ‘Grasp Your Opportunities’ and this was taken on board by all who attended, creating a positive atmosphere over the four days that the Conference took place.
I believe it is an exciting time for our industry and the Conference highlighted this – showing that there are many opportunities to better the way in which we operate; whether it be staff management, business promotion, or economic awareness.
We celebrated the Best of the Best on the final evening with the Awards Gala Dinner and once again would like to congratulate all Award winners – well done, you are at the top of your game. If you did not enter the Awards this year, I strongly encourage you to enter them in 2011. This is a fantastic way to benchmark your business and the judges’ feedback is highly beneficial in pointing out where you need to work to improve your business.
I wish to make special mention of the Young Leaders. These young people are our industry’s future and the caliber of entrants this year was extremely high. Congratulations to Mark Engall of NSW who was recognised as the 2010 Nursery & Garden Industry Young Leader. I wish you all the best for your year ahead.
The Top End put on a great show for us, with beautiful weather, high standard tour destinations and welcoming hospitality. I would like to thank all those involved for organising a memorable and successful Conference for 2010.
