Business Visits Retail Tour
Retail Tour delegates will be picked up from their hotel at approximately
8.30am and taken to Government
House for a guided tour of the grounds. Your next stop will be the current
Hall of Fame Garden Centre, Allora Gardens Nursery for morning tea. After
morning tea you will travel to Finlay's
Stone Masonry for a delicious lunch and a wander through their
store of entertainment memorabilia. During the afternoon you will visit
Jenny's
Orchids and Darwin Botanic Gardens returning to your hotel at
about 5.15pm.
Business Visits Production Tour
There will be two production tours operating in opposite
directions. The Bus Group you are allocated will be determined
by the location of your hotel. Both groups will meet at Darwin
Plant Wholesalers for lunch.
Bus A
Buses leave the hotels at approximately 8am and travel to
Charles Darwin University – Aquaponics, The Plantsmith,
Darwin Plant Wholesalers, Ironstone Lagoon Nursery and
Shoal Bay Mulch. The buses return to the hotels at about
5.30pm.
Bus B
Buses leave the hotels at approximately 7.30am and travel
to Shoal Bay Mulch, Ironstone Lagoon Nursery, Darwin Plant
Wholesalers, The Plantsmith and Charles Darwin University – Aquaponics. The buses return to the hotels at approximately
5.00pm.
Katherine Tour
Depart Darwin about 6.30am and stop for breakfast at the
Adelaide River War Cemetery, the resting place for many
Second World War soldiers and civilians killed in the 1942 air
raids on Darwin. Continue to Katherine stopping for morning
tea at Jurassic Cycad Gardens a new and unique self-guided
Eco adventure featuring 2.5 hectares of native and exotic, rare
and endangered plants from around the world. Then onto
Nitmiluk National Park, home to 13 stunning gorges including
the famous Katherine Gorge. Join your guided boat tour which
takes you through the sheer cliffs of Katherine Gorge. As you
glide along the tranquil waters of this ancient watercourse
enjoy a delicious lunch while listening to a commentary from
your guide detailing the areas plants and wildlife. Return to
Darwin via a stop at Pine Creek for afternoon tea.
Evening
Tonight is a free night unless you are a National Finalists in the
Nursery & Garden Industry Awards. The winner’s Dinner will
be held at Seafood on Cullen commencing at 7.00pm. It is
suggested if you are attending this function you do the retail
or production tour in preference to the Katherine Tour as you
may not arrive back in time to attend the function.
