Categories for Entry 2012
AWARD CATEGORIES
The entry criteria for the 2012 Awards program has been reviewed by industry representatives with regard to the content, the length and weighting of each question. Each entry requires a three (3) to five (5) page written submission with four (4) to eight (8) photos and supporting materials depending on the categories you enter. For garden centers and production nurseries the level of detail required is dependent on the size of your business.
What is support material?
Support material can be any documents such as ads, editorial, certificates, newspaper articles, references, and letters from customers etc to show the judges and support what you are claiming in your written submission.

Best Small Garden Centre - Annual turnover under $750,000
Requirements for this category - three page submission, four good quality photos and four pages of support material.
Best Medium Garden Centre - Annual turnover $750,000 - $2 million
Requirements for this category - four page submission, six good quality photos and six pages of support material.
Best Large Garden Centre - Annual turnover greater than $2 million
Requirements for this category are a five page submission, eight good quality photos and eight pages of support material.
Production Nursery Awards

Eligible businesses for the production nursery category are producers of bedding plants and potted colour, indoor and patio plants as well as trees and shrubs
Best Small
Production Nursery: five (5) or fewer fulltime equivalent (FTE) staff
Requirements for this category are a three page submission, four high quality images and four pages of support material.
Best Medium Production Nursery: six (6) to fifteen (15) full time equivalent (FTE) staff
Requirements for this category are a four page submission, six high quality images and six pages of support material.
Best Large Production Nursery: more than fifteen (15) full time equivalent (FTE)
staff
Requirements for this category are a five page submission, eight high quality images and eight pages of support material.
Best Government Nursery
Eligible businesses for this category are Government owned nurseries that are publicly funded and are producers of bedding plants and
potted colour, indoor and patio plants as well as trees and shrubs.
Requirements for this category are a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight pages of support material.
Best Propagation Nursery
Eligible businesses for the propagation nursery category are producers of propagation plugs and tube stock that are sold to production
nurseries.

This award is open to all industry operators and is presented to the most outstanding marketing campaign for a product and or service between March 2010 and March 2011.

This Award recognizes businesses that demonstrate leadership and commitment initiatives to environmental management, sustainability and community participation in relation to environmental issues.

This Award recognises businesses who demonstrate an outstanding approach and commitment to staff training.

This Award recognises the outstanding industry contributions and exemplary services of allied traders/suppliers to Nursery & Garden Industry businesses. Suppliers include both product and service providers.
For 2012 the supplier award will be based on customer votes and customer feedback via the supplier nomination form, votes and feedback will be scored at state level to determine the state and national winner.

The Young Leader Award seeks to identify, recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of individuals in the Nursery & Garden Industry, who display exceptional commitment and passion towards their business, the industry and leadership potential for association and industry schemes.
It is open to all industry employees and employers under 35 years of age at the time the awards entry closes. Past state winners are welcome to enter for 2012 but no past national winners are permitted to enter.
This award requires two references in support of your entry into the award from an employer and from a customer or supplier. Also required is a submission answering the questions outlined with images and other support materials like adds etc to support your entry.
