categories for entry 2011

AWARD CATEGORIES

The entry criteria for the 2011 Awards have been reviewed by industry representatives with regard to the content, the length and weighting of each question.  Each entry requires a three (3) to five (5) page written submission with four (4) to twelve (12) quality photos and supporting materials depending on the categories you enter.  For garden centers’ and production nurseries the level of detail required is dependent on the size of your business


Garden Centre Awards

Best Small Garden Centre- Annual turnover under $750,000
Requirements for this category - three page submission, four high quality photos and four items/pages of support material.

Best Medium Garden Centre - Annual turnover $750,000 - $2 million
Requirements for this category - four page submission, eight high quality photos and eight items/ pages of support material.

Best Large Garden Centre - Annual turnover greater than $2 million
Requirements for this category are a five page submission, twelve high quality photos and twelve items/pages of support material.

 

Production Nursery Awards

Eligible businesses for the production nursery category are producers of bedding plants and potted colour, indoor and patio plants as well as trees and shrubs.

Best Small Production Nursery : five (5) or fewer fulltime equivalent (FTE) staff
Requirements for this category are a three page submission, four high quality images and four items/pages of support material.

Best Medium Production Nursery : six (6) to fifteen (15) full time equivalent (FTE) staff

Requirements for this category are a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

Best Large Production Nursery : more than fifteen (15) full time equivalent (FTE) staff
Requirements for this category are a five page submission, twelve high quality images and twelve items/pages of support material.

Best Government Nursery
Eligible businesses for this category are Government owned nurseries that are publicly funded and are producers of bedding plants and potted colour, indoor and patio plants as well as trees and shrubs.

Requirements for this category are a four page submission, twelve high quality images and twelve items/pages of support material.

Best Propagation Nursery

Eligible businesses for the propagation nursery category are producers of propagation plugs and tube stock that are sold to production nurseries.

Requirements for this category are a four page submission, twelve high quality images and twelve items/pages of support material.

 

NEW Marketing Award

This award is open to all industry operators and is presented to the most outstanding marketing campaign for a product and or service between March 2009 and March 2010.

Requirements for this category are a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

 

Environment Award – Retail (New category for 2011)

This Award recognises retail businesses that demonstrate leadership and commitment initiatives to environmental management, sustainability and community participation in relation to environmental issues.

Requirements for this category include a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

 

Environment Award – Production & Growing Media (New category for 2011)

This award recognises production businesses and growing media suppliers that demonstrate leadership and commitment to initiatives related to environmental management, sustainability and community participation in relation to environmental issues.

Requirements for this category include a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

 

Training Award

This Award recognises businesses who demonstrate an outstanding approach and commitment to staff training.

Requirements for this category are a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

 

Community Award

This Award recognises businesses who demonstrate outstanding commitment to their local community through work conducted outside of the day-to-day operations of your businesses.

Requirements for this category are a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

 

Industry Supplier Award



This Award recognises the outstanding industry contributions and exemplary services of allied traders/suppliers to Nursery & Garden Industry businesses. Suppliers include both product and service providers.

Upon nomination, the requirements for this category are a four page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pages of support material.

 

Young Leader Award

This category takes into account contribution to business, but in particular participation in industry activities and leadership potential for association and industry schemes.  It is open to employees and employers under 35 years of age at the time of the Awards entry closes.  This award requires a minimum of one (1) reference letter in support of your submission from an employer, customer or supplier. Requirements for this category are a five page submission, eight high quality images and eight items/pieces of support material.

Previous winners of this Award at either state or national level are not eligible to enter.
